  • We don’t care about Paula Deen or Rachael Ray’s specialties; we want your killer recipes! Originals only, please.
  • You have many amazing recipes, we know. But please, limit your submissions to five per day. (That’s still 80 recipes total, folks!)
  • Please, pretty please, include standard US measurements and a complete list of ingredients. Since our judges will be testing these, any recipes that are incomplete will be taken out of the running.
  • If you’ve won a contest with your recipe, or currently have it entered in one, don’t submit it!

Please look for my 'Mum's Ketchup Steak' recipe adapted for slow cooker and vote on it. I need the money to pay on my medical bills (I'm a cancer patient just getting by) and I'm in desperate need of a new slow cooker. Have been using a borrowed one from my mum for years.

Thank you for your consideration

Cheesy ham and potatoes

16 to 24 ounces of cubed ham steak

2 to 3 pounds of potatoes of choice, sliced thin (1/4 to 1/2 inch)

1 large box of Veveeta cheese cubed (3/4 to 1")

1 Can of Cambells cheddar cheese soup

1 1/2 cups of milk (or sour cream is a good substitute)

*mix cheese soup and mil in a large dish and set to the side(it will be lumpy but that is ok)

Thoroughly Grease or "Pam" the sides and bottom of your slow cooker pot.

Place a full layer of potatoes on the bottom of the bot.

Lightly add in a handful of ham cubes then fill in the spaces with velveeta cubes.

After approx half of the potatoes, hamd and cheese have been layered in, add half of the cheese soup mix.

continue layering the potatoes, ham and cheese cubes.

Top off with the last of the cheese soup.

Let cook until potatoes are soft to a fork test.

ENJOY CHEESY HAM DECADENCE!

Easy Crock pot sweet potato soup

Ingredients:
3 cups lentils (either canned or soaked overnight)
3 cups cubed sweet potatoes
4 cups chicken stock
1/2 cup diced onion
1/2 cup diced carrots
1/2 cup diced celery
3 tbsp agave
3 tbsp orange juice
2 tsp parsley
olive oil
salt
First, sweat the onion, celery, and carrots in a pan on high heat, with a little olive oil. Let it simmer until the onions are clear (or longer if your little ones are averse to vegetable textures). When they look done, add the sweet potatoes and a splash of the chicken stock, and cook for another 10 minutes.
Add the mixture, and all the other ingredients, to your crockpot. Cook on high for 3 hours, or until sweet potatoes are tender.

I have been enjoying cooking in crock pots for almost 40 years! What a great way to have a nice hot meal when you return home from work.
There are so many yummy recipes it is hard to select, but I am submitting my braised short rib recipe they seem to be making a come back and I am sooo glad to see(taste)it! And who couldn't use $1,000 these days? As so many I went from a prominent position to unpaid unemployment for the past few years!
Good luck to all the fab entries!!

Sir:

SLOW cooked Fresh Pork Shoulder/Arm Butt.

First Make Home Made Garlic butter, by using Soft Margine and Garlic clovers Blended in a Food Blender. I make several tubs using "I can't believe it is not butter" at one time for easy of use.

Next make a rub blend of: Oregano, rosemary, Thyme, basal, Sage, black pepper. I normally use a One to One mixture of all spices; Make a big bag for use.

Next in a separate Bowl I Mix the Garlic Butter with the spices to make a rub/paste.

I next take the Shoulder with skin and make extended cuts under the skin and Spread sea salt over the Shoulder and then Stuff the Paste mixture to fill up the voids. I cut thick slices of Potato and Carrots to sit the Roast on. I add a little stock / water stock cube. I also rub all other surfaces with Salt and Paste mixture and place Skin side up.

I cook very Slowly for 6 to 12 hours. This procedure also works great in the OVEN and again is cooked in at 200F or below for 6 to 12 hours. The Goal is to have the Meat fall off the BONE. The Potatoes and Carrots cook themselves and are flavored with both Pork & Spices to provide a Meal in one pot.

Do not worry if you cut the meat and place the spices in the muscle; I have done this may times and it just addes deeper flavor to the Meat.

If you want make it spicy you can add crushed Red Pepper to the Paste.
